What is PLC?

A PLC is a rugged industrial computer that runs control logic in scan cycles to control machines and processes.

Stands for: Programmable Logic Controller · Systems

PLCs read inputs, execute the program and update outputs; they are programmed in IEC 61131-3 languages (ladder diagram and others). Data collection usually relies on OPC UA, Modbus or vendor-specific protocols; byte-order and data-type mismatches are common integration errors in the field.
