What is Edge Computing?

Edge computing means processing data close to where it is generated (machine, line or plant) instead of only in a remote cloud.

Architecture & Data

Filtering, aggregating and modeling data at the edge reduces latency, lowers cloud ingest and storage cost, and keeps local operations running when the internet connection drops. Scenarios that need real-time decisions (quality stops, safety) often require edge processing.

The edge complements rather than replaces the cloud: raw data is conditioned at the edge and only the valuable, contextual part is sent to the cloud.
